Where to find photography classes for people still in high school?
Okay, I’ve been very interested in photography for quite a while now and i have finally gotten enough money for a Sony A200 and will soon have quite a few nice lenses from my uncle when he used to weddings and things. So i am looking to find some classes that can help me learn more without interrupting my school hours. I really want to learn the most i can before i move on to colleges since i’m aiming for a Masters of fine arts in photography, hopefully from Brooks Institute.
You have a good point Vegas, i could also lower the degree i’m getting in photography and also go for a degree in business. You can never know too much.
You wanna be a photogapher, kid? Then only go to free seminars when you can, otherwise, spend your money on whatever it takes to get out there and get the shot on the first take and make the image in a way that pleases your customers.
In the old days of film, when you could cut the time it takes to learn how to “cook” in a darkroom and get the best image results in your finished prints I could see where going to a school to learn was better than learning by trial-and-error on your own. Today, with digital, this is no longer so, and photography schools are probably a waste of time.
Go and get a BUSINESS degree instead. If you want to STAY a photographer, you have to know how to get customers, make them happy with your services, and maximize your profits by knowing how to keep and interpret your business records, and what actions to take with the information they provide. Also, you say you have an uncle that used to shoot weddings? Make friends with him and LISTEN to what he says about how it’s done.
